• What do I do if I’m unhappy about something?
If therapy is going to facilitate change it will need to be challenging at times and this could bring up all sorts of feelings for you, some of them may well be negative feelings towards the therapist. When this happens it’s usually most productive to work it through with the therapist until some insight is gained. However if you feel your therapist is in any way behaving unethically then the UKCP, BSCH and BACP has a complaints procedure which you are entitled to use. Examples of unethical behaviour would be, intentionally seeing a client in settings other than the therapeutic one, forming a sexual relationship with a client or disclosing confidential information to other parties inappropriately or without the clients consent or knowledge.
